A Bathing Ape Winter 2008 Collection

I always liked the Bape sneakers (even if the Bapestas are pretty much a rip off of the Nike Air Force 1s) and the fullzip sweatshirts, but come on, this shit is getting out of control! Their winter collection looks like the bad part of grandpa's closet in the 70's, not to mention the astronomical price tags. Come on Nigo, you can do better than that.

Quit Hatin on Rik!

I really don't get it. People are attacking Rik Cordero's videos because he manages to make excellent videos on small budgets? What the fuck is goin on?...if it wasnt for Rik, wed be seeing the video to "We Takin Over" (not to say that its not a DOPE song...) again and again no matter who the rap artist was. Rik is raising the bar for what can be done creatively with low budgets and certain other people are just resistant to that change. He bring s grittiness and style that makes his videos more like short films than videos. Good shots are better than frivolous bullshit bells and whistles. The hip-hop community needs to understand and embrace the change of aesthetic that Rik is bringing. Here are a few of my favorites of Rik's videos.

I been bumpin to this song for a while now...hot like fire.

You know i had to put some DC love in there, shout out to the undisputed ambassador of rap for the capital, Wale!

Curtis!

I just want to know WHY, after putting such great artists as Wale, Kid Cudi, Blu and B.o.B this month, would XXL decide to give this clown another cover. Can you even remember what 50's last album was called? Do you know what the upcoming is supposed to be called? What the hell happened to G_Unit? After Kanye destroyed Curtis in last year's sales showdown (with Yeezy pickin up a few Grammys along the way) i haven't heard anyyyything from him. The last time i bobbed my head to some 50 was listenin to "Hate It or Love it", and most of that was The Game's doing...

HATERS OF THE WEEK: THE D.M.C.A

Alright. Something extremely unfortunate happened today over at our other blog, Fresh Like Green Tea. Some of you may have seen the Kanye West post from yesterday, which included all the already leaked tracks off his upcoming album, as well as all his animated music videos (straight from YouTube). Today, all of the post was removed from the blog by Blogger, and i was notified via email that apparently i was violating other people's rights through some of the things on my post according the D.M.C.A (Digital Millennium Copyrights Act). I'm seriously shocked. I only posted songs that have already been leaked all over the internet and showed videos that were easily available on YouTube. On top of all this, I was encouraging my readers to go out on Nov. 24th and purchase Kanye West's new album. What the fuck is wrong with a world in which a lowly blogger with a small audience giving free promotion to an artist they like and admire by re-posting already leaked material easily available elsewhere? I am in the process of drafting a statement for both Attack the Wakk and Fresh Like Green Tea in which I ask anyone that has a problem with that is posted to email me, and if the claim is reasonable, i will remove the material. And just one more thing: FUCK the industry for this.

Soup alla Beef Vol. 2

So here's a pledge to the new Urban Secretary:

With the car industry crunching and shriveling up its the perfect time to expand and improve public transportation nationwide. I think this would be essential to not only provide a cheap, convenient and clean way of transportation, but also social development to the US as a nation as one.

We all know public transport IS cheap, because its cheap, IS convenient, because you avoid traffic and parking, IS clean because you are saving gas, congested highways, and wannabe roadkill, but what else can public transport do for us?

Personally I grew up in a German city with excellent public transport, as in most European cities. This is not because we are better over here or anything, but because we have, in Germany for example, 82 million people living on top of each other. Thats like having 10 New York Cities between NYC and VA Beach! So to get your drivers license in Germany cost you around a grand and gas is about 4 times as expensive as in the states. Quite the incentive to us public transport.

I myself recognized another benefit. Everyday as a kid I would wake up, get fly, put on my backpack with everything I needed for the day, and head on out. And I wouldn't be home till dinner. Its unbelievable the amount of different people I met along my way, and NO city spot or even "close by" city was to far away. Imagine three cities within 20 minutes of each other! VERY different cities at that... Now you can only imagine the network of people we built up and were exposed to.

You meet people from all walks of life. This is a good thing. It makes you grow up and learn about LIFE. True life. And this is exactly what America needs more of, for a better cultural understanding. Especially the land of Suburbia.

In a wrap: Quality Public Transport is the first step towards a healthy, strong, aware and open society, in which people truly get to know their neighbor and hopefully eventually become not only their brothers keeper, but their neighbors keeper too.

So get out on that bike, hop on the metro, cruise to work and observe the daily grind wake up. Get on that pulse of the city and live as one.

Peace and be safe.

Where Da Gold At?!

After laughing so hard for 10 minutes that I nearly cracked a rib, i began to wonder a few things about this clip. Is it real? I see the NBC logos on the mics, but the amateur sketch (which was pretty much the funnies thing in there)? If this is real, then I am truly in disbelief of the ignorance that exists i this country. And also, one might think that the reporters chose the most ignorant people to interview, which in my view, is completely unprofessional. If this is fake, all I can say is that it's amazing. I hope it's a hoax...

Beef Soup

No doubt I could not be happier about the class the American people showed by setting aside any fears they may have and voting for the best man as president. The "May the best man win" style democracy is blooming live and in full effect.

However, the one thing no one is talking about, is the self centered attitude America has had and still displays during the race and in the aftermath of the election. This self-centeredness is exactly what got the us into disfavor with the rest of the world in the past and we can't let it happen again.

During this election all people ever talked about is what Obama is and will be to the American people. Fair enough, he is the American president after all. But what is he to the rest of the world? What impact does the symbolism of having a black president with remote middle eastern and Muslim decent have for the rest of the world?

Let me say it how I see it:

For example, how would you convince young soldiers to attack a nation and notion that shows true opportunity. A true ideal no longer represented by the "western white bad guy" but instead a man from a common background. By common background I mean a man that rose to the top by his own ability and and hard work, and not through passed down aristocratic political connections. The election is proof of a meritocracy if you will, and no nation or peoples on earth has ever disagreed with the value of meritocracy. In addition he looks Middle Eastern and his middle name is Hussein. No doubt this choice of Barak Hussein Obama will significantly take out the wind from the sails of any terrorist PR Rep...

According to this it seems like the best way to fight terrorism was to vote for Obama. This is just one example and I'm not looking to tire your eyes, but my beef simply is this: In the public eye, why don't Americans ever sincerely, consciously and critically debate the way the world views them and their actions? It would make things easier for all of us in the long run if the US politics and media became more worldly.

I can only hope that Americans don't revert to thinking they are the greatest nation on earth and they have more right to existence than other nations do. Granted, we have made a good choice as president, but he is more conservative than people think. Democracy is a peoples politics and it is still on us to repair the US image by taking action and showing humbleness and compassion to the world.

We have spoken, now we have to act.

Soulja Gurl!

Even though this shit is HILARIOUS without knowing the reasons behind the apparently sudden freakout (sadly, the young woman is afflicted with Bipolar disorder and had neglected to take her medication), the underlying reason is that she would not be screaming "Souljah Girl" if it were not for the most unfortunate existence of the dreaded ringtone rapper Soulja Boy. Last week he publicly thanked ( i swear to God this is true) slavemasters of the past for bringing Africans to America where they could get rich and get bling. In the immortal words of the legendary Ice-T, "Fuck Souljah Boy! Eat a dick!"

This belongs here. Even though this here be a forum of hate - gotta love them titties...

T-Bag

Aight, here we go, part 2 of the T-Pain hatefest. I stumbled upon this video the day before i went to NYC (excuse me for not posting it sooner) and was just appalled...I know that this video is supposed to be ironic, but i se no difference in the usual behavior of either T-Pain or DJ Khaled in other more "serious" videos...T-Pain is still bouncing around like a fucked-up looking zookeeper and Khaled is doing what he does best...screaming "We The Best" at the top of his lungs, rocking a pendant that discreetly says in enormous diamond encrusted letters...you guessed it..."We The Best". Yeezy is right at the beginning of the video when talkin to T-Pain ;"No I will certainly not go to the club with you", cuz i definitely wouldn't either.
